The Foster Street Urban Agriculture Program is a shining example of community collaboration, providing healthy food and education to those in need. Campers in the program participate in bi-weekly classes, learning how to grow, harvest, and cook fresh produce, as well as operate a farm stand.
The program’s focus on education and community engagement is what impressed Rotarian Joy Joyce, who praised the Evanston Food Exchange for their efforts. “I’m excited about the work they’re doing, not only to provide healthy food but also to emphasize education,” she said.
Other grant recipients with a similar focus include Edible Evanston, a program of Citizens’ Greener Evanston, and Youth Grow Team, a program of Ridgeville Park District.
